I’d been looking forward to the legendary Tintagel. A place where King Arthur was purportedly conceived. A love story of Tristan and Iseult and a place where Richard the Earl of Cornwall built a castle in 1230’s as he’d heard about King Arthur. It is half on main land and on a headland. It was a stronghold in 5-7th century. Lots of history. However, first there was inclement weather, and 2nd I didn’t feel like I wanted to go. Was I in a mood, had I had enough of history?
I had to pay twice due to not attending on the Sunday. The views were breathtaking, the Atlantic wild and rough and it was a rugged but interesting layout. The only sense of feeling I got was touching the chapel walls. Gallo the bronze sculpture stood gallantly on the hill as many had photos taken with him. Unfortunately even though it was low tide, Merlin’s cave was inaccessible due to faulty steps. I don’t think I was meant to go there today!
